Ribbon Flower Tutorial!

I had so much fun making this flower and I love the new stamp set – Thanks for Caring coming to you January 4th in the NEW Occasions Mini Catalog!!

Here's what I did with the inside:

Here's the ingredients:

Stamps:Thanks for Caring Ink: Rich Razzleberry  Accessories: 2 1/2" Circle Punch; Scallop Trim Border Punch; Dimensionals; Pearls; Rich Razzleberry Satin Ribbon (20 1/2"); Elegant Lines Embossing Folder; Big Shot; Mini Glue Dots; Sticky Strip; 1 3/8" Circle Punch; Heat Tool

Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry  4 1/4 x 11 – scored @ 5 1/2"; Very Vanilla  4 1/4  x 2 & 4 x 5 1/4 (inside); Scraps:  Very Vanilla

And here's how you can make this beautiful flower!!!

#1 Start with 5/8" Satin Ribbon – I used Rich Razzleberry.  You'll need 16".  Cut your ribbon at 1" intervals up to the edge seam as shown below:

#2 Cut off the seam on the side and curve the edges of your 1" segments as shown below:

UPDATE:  I'm happy to tell you that my DL, Shelley Olson made a bunch of these and she put her ribbon on the sticky strip circle and THEN used the Heat Tool to make it curl up – it was much easier!!!  THANKS Shelley for that tip!

#3 Use your heat tool to make the ribbon curl up…this takes some time…so be patient!  Use the end of your scissors or your paper piercing tool to hold your ribbon in place while you're heating it.

#4 Punch out a 1 3/8" Circle from matching cardstock and cover it with Sticky Strip.  Our Adhesive Sheets of Sticky Strip would be so much easier here…but I didn't have any.  Guess what's on my next order?

#5 Start placing your ribbon around the circle….scrunching it at times to go around the edge of the circle.

#6 Continue with the ribbon as shown below:

#7 Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the last center petal:

#8 Top your flower off with a Pearl Jewel and you've got a beauty!!!

  1. I hope this is your swap card at Regional hint hint 😉
Question, could you run the ribbon through the scallop edge of the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die and get the same effect?
Sorry, I’m all about fast and easy….
BTW, this is one of the best flower ideas I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing.
