I promised that I would show you how to make this card!!!!
1. I started with a GORGEOUS sunset photo taken my by mother – Karen Flynn. She loves to take photos and has a ton of outstanding sunsets!!! This is the view out her patio door in Central Wisconsin…the branch on the right is a very old and large walnut tree.
2. Stamp the deer image from Nature Silhouettes with Jet Black StazOn ink…you need to brace your hand so the stamp doesn't slide…it will be slippery.
3. Stamp the tree image on the left side of the photo. I did not stamp the tree off the left side of the photo on purpose. This image is thin and I was afraid that I would miss so much of it.
4. Set your photo aside and assemble the rest of your card while you wait a few minutes for the ink to dry.
5. Take a Black Sharpie marker and dot it over the areas that didn't get inked up real well. The dotting seemed to work better than a coloring motion.
6. Trim off the left side of your photo first, along the edge of the tree.
7. Then turn the photo around and trim it to 4 1/2" wide.
8. Now trim off the top of your photo so it shows the tree along the top edge.
9. Trim off the bottom of the photo so it measures 3". The finished photo is 4 1/2" wide by 3" tall.
The card base is Basic Gray. The Poppy Parade layer under the photo is 3 1/8" x 4 5/8"
Here are three different sunsets…notice the lightest one is blurry. My stamps slid on this one.
Here's the super fun part….you can use my mom's sunset photos by right clicking on them (below) and then choosing "SAVE PHOTO AS…." This will save the sunsets to your computer so you can send them to your favorite photo developer and make your own sunset/silhouette cards!!!
OK – so if you use my mom's sunsets…you HAVE to email her a photo of your card or send one to her in the mail!!!! She'll love this…and it's the least we can do to thank her for sharing her fabulous talent with us!!!! Her email address is: ktflynn@tds.net and her address is: Karen Flynn, N6785 River Ave, Greenwood, WI 54437

Beautiful card, and fantastic pictures! Thanks for sharing them, and thank your mom for me too!
Hugs,

Kelly, super card, super photo. You and your mom are so generous for sharing. Thanks to both of you.
WOW Kelly these are gorgeous. My hubby hunts in Colorado and brings home some great pics so now this is such a neat idea to use them and especially send to his ‘hunting’ buddies! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for sharing this card and the tutorial to go with it. Thanks, too, to your mom for sharing her photos. I’m not sure I’ll try to card myself because I don’t own the stamp set, but it’s definitely a cool idea to see. And I always love to see a gorgeous card! I imagine it’s even better in person.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
I have used some of my own photos as cards before. I take all these pics – might as well use them for something. I use them for the kids bd cards – I usually use the last pic I took of them or last years bd party pic. They seem to get a big bang out of seeing themselves on the card
What a wonderful idea…Thanks for sharing..one of the reasons I love being part of Stampin UP, everyone’s willingness to share. I have tons of sunset photos, and now a wonderful way to share them.
I wondered how you did this!! Great idea, great picture also! I just love the pictures that Karen takes, they are awsome.
Take care,
CE
Gorgeous!! And what beautiful photographs, so sweet of you mom to share. I’d seen stamping on photos awhile back, but had forgotten about it. Just a tip that I learned by happy accident, when stamping stazon on acetate, or anything slippery, use your stamp a ma jig. The handle holds the stamp perfectly so it doesn’t slide.
Thank you Kelly, gorgeous, I would like to do this some time…. it really looks good. Hugs always! G
How fun, thanks for sharing the pictures. I don’t think we ever seen sunsets that pretty around here, lol!
Fantastic tutorial … and gorgeous pics! Love this idea! TFS! Hugs xxaxx
Honey, I feel so honored to be in your cards. Great hugs to you.
You did a great job on this card. Thank you (and your mom) for sharing the beautiful sunset pictures
Thank you sooooo much for this tutorial! It’s so amazing, wonderful!!!! I’d like to say more, but I don’t have enough words…
I’ll do a card for my father, it’s a wow for sure!!!
