I had a blast making my projects. It's a little out of my comfort zone – I haven't made anything that's shabby chic in a long time – but I do love the style!
This technique is called Faux Patina. I thought it was a perfect technique for a Shabby Chic project line-up.
What is Shabby Chic?
faux
:artificial or imitation; fake
patina
: a thin usually green layer that forms naturally on the metals copper and bronze when they are exposed to the air for a long time

Perfect right? It was the first thing that popped into my mind last night when I thought "what on earth am I going to make with a SHABBY CHIC style?" I love a challenge! So I was racking my brain when I remembered a Faux Patina technique that I did a couple years ago and went searching on my blog to find it! It was 4 years ago!!! How is it that I can remember that I even "made it" that long ago when I can't remember what I did yesterday???? Anyhow – you can find a picture tutorial HERE for this technique.
And now for my SHABBY CHIC card and a cute little gift box to match – I think it turned out great!!!
Not to fool you – I doubled up the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon to make it wider and attached it to my card front with FAST FUSE. Love that stuff!
I love the addition of the COPPER EMBOSSING POWDER to the FLUTTERING butterfly embossed layer!
I am also in love with the FLOURISH THINLITS – they are beautiful and elegant! The TINY CLEAR TINY TREAT BOXES are such a fun addition – I plan to put some gourmet candy in my gift box. You can also fit a pair of earrings or something of similar size. How about a key for a brand new car – I would LOVE that!
I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 2 x 6 and scored at 2 and 4. I needed to cut just a sliver off of each end to fit in my CLEAR TINY TREAT BOX. I sponged the layer just like I did on the embossed butterflies on my card. The black flower is added to the outside with the FINE TIP GLUE PEN. Super easy!
I colored my Rhinestones with a black Sharpie marker to make them match my color scheme.
